Event Description:

This month the educational program will be an introduction to hoarding disorder for laypeople, not medical or support professionals. Lauren Williams of Casual Uncluttering will teach us about the disorder using as little confusing medical jargon, references to brain scans or tons of statistics as possible. We will examine the characteristics of the mental illness; why it is such a challenging disorder. 

Learning Objectives:

1. A realistic understanding of the limitations and difficulties of working with a person with hoarding disorder

2. An appreciation for the danger they may be in, both emotionally and physically

3. Practical tools which may improve a helping professional's communication with a person who excessively acquires and/or is unable to readily let go of possessions.
