What is NAPO?
The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) was founded in 1985 by 16 Professional Organizers in Los Angeles, California and currently is recognized worldwide as "The Organizing Authority(R)". NAPO's membership includes approximately 4,200 Professional Organizers dedicated to helping individuals and businesses bring order and efficiency to their lives. NAPO's vision is to have the world recognize the value of organizing and turn to NAPO as the leading organizing authority. Their mission is to develop, lead, and promote Professional Organizers and the organizing industry.
NAPO Oregon brings together Professional Organizers in Oregon and Southwest Washington for the purpose of mutual support, continuing education, networking, and promoting public awareness of the Professional Organizing industry.
History of NAPO Oregon
NAPO Oregon is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in October 1991 in Portland, Oregon by Professional Organizers, Susan Lannis, C.J. Hanes, Lynette Peterson and Julie Job as an official chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO). NAPO Oregon is noted for hosting NAPO’s national convention in 1998 with record attendance and as the location where the 1000th national member joined the organization. NAPO Oregon’s Board also initiated a campaign with Dex Yellow Pages to create a new category for “Organizing Products and Services” which was adopted nationwide.
The chapter has increased significantly in membership since it was established and currently has over 40 members. NAPO Oregon's Chapter membership includes Certified Professional Organizers (CPOs), Organizing Consultants, Speakers, Trainers, Certified Coaches, Authors and Associate Members — locally based companies, distributors, manufacturers, and/or sellers of organizing equipment, products, supplies or services. NAPO Oregon also includes Professional Organizers recognized as “Golden Circle” members, NAPO members for at least one year who have five or more years of industry experience as a Professional Organizer.
